SNEEK PEEK- CANDIA PARK GETS NEW STREET VIBE

Thanks to the commitment and fundraising efforts of the Leavitt family, enough cash has been raised to add a much needed centerpiece to the park. And Renegade’s giving you your first peek at it!

This spring, American Ramp Company will be installing a 3 foot high, concrete 3-flat-3, complete with a 2’ high, 7 ½ ’ long, and 2” round handrail. This set is 10 feet wide with 8 feet of flat on the run-up- plenty of room to set up and skate the set or rail. Three steps down, 3 feet of flat, and 3 more steps. That’s legit.

And here’s a little bonus….A new 3’ high, 8 ½’ wide, concrete Jersey barrier will also be put into place. This thing comes with super smooth transitions and the same angles as the real thing. It’s bringing some much needed street swagger and creativity.

This is our hometown park, so you can bet on us throwing a jam style contest this summer to celebrate the new addition and to show some love to Sandy and Roger Leavitt- the real driving force behind this local park.

Stay tuned to the Blogger and Facebook for updates!

Much Love!

Wanna Get Some Exposure?

If you're looking to get noticed, you need to get on this...

We're opening up a new and unique way to get your name out to the skate community. It’s a new segment on our blog called, “Local Spotlight”. If you kill it, or know of someone who does, here’s what you need to do:

Hit us up at sales@renegadeskateboards.com. Toss us a quick montage and tell us why you (or they) deserve a shot at the spotlight. If it’s dope, we’ll hit you up for a quick interview. Then we’ll get your name plastered on the blog, our Facebook and Twitter pages, and even give you a spot in our newsletter- which goes out to shops, our customers, and anyone else on our mailing list.

This is awesome. Get your footy together!

Local Spotlight- Justin Miner (Pittsfield, NH)

This is the first little segment where we seek out unknown local skaters and try go give them a little exposure.

Here's some footy we found of Justin Miner- an up and comer from the small town of Pittsfield, NH. I got the chance to skate with him a little while back and found out that not only does he rip, but he's also a damn good dude. In fact, probably one of the coolest people I've ever met. And in Pittsfield, he is a local celebrity to the kids.

Check it out, show him some love. And keep in mind that the streets he's skating on haven't been paved in about 10 years. I've driven them. They're haggard. We'll get him out for a session this summer to get some new footy and an interview.

Granite Skate Skatepark- Opening April 2011

You know that age-old phrase, “It’s about time”? That’s exactly what we said when we heard about the new Granite Skate skatepark opening up in April 2011 in Nashua, NH. It’s the first of its kind in southern NH. And the preliminary reports about the park are dope. EB got a private session in on March 5th (lucky!). Tune into the EB Nashua blog…they have a crazy edit coming soon. We’re hyped to see it!

Here’s some quick tidbits about the park… It’s 24,000 square feet- the second largest in New England. The owners dumped upwards of $350,000 into this thing and included a little bit of everything you could want. There’s concrete ledges, a down-flat-down ledge, rails, tranny, a pyramid, stairs, and a 140’ street course that will allow you to throw some lines together!

Check out the Granite Skate Skatepark website to learn more. The site has everything you need- from photos, to hour and price information, to waivers and even online pre-registration.

It’s about damn time!

Downtown Throwdown 2011 Results and Footy

Last weekend, our boys at GG put together the 7th Annual Downtown Throwdown in Keene, NH. The main man behind the event- Dave Morin- shot me this email summary this afternoon:

With spring just around the corner the City of Keene,NH was rocked by the 7th Annual Downtown Throwdown on Saturday March, 5th. With over 15 dedicated sponsors some providing vendor booths, demo teams and company trucks the atmosphere was bumping with loud tunes and crazy tricks. Fourty + contestants battled it out through a 45 minute jam style format running into a tough finals round, competitors had the prizes on their mind. A brand new limited edition 7th Annual Downtown Throwdown snowboard from Bean Snowboards, a new pair of K2 skis from Norms Ski and Bike, as well as new cell phones provided by At&T. Granite Gorge Terrain Parks set up the whole event and Teds Shoe and Sport was a main sponsor as well. Other contests went on after the awards like a free product toss for the fans and a slow-dance with Dave Morin for a free case of Monster Energy, a brave female spectator came forth!!

Showing love to the NE Skate Scene- Dave Bachinsky Mini Ramp Session

Well, this has absolutely nothing to do with Renegade, but it's probably some of the best mini ramp footy ever. Thanks to Dave Bachinsky for putting New England on the map. This is us showing you a little love.

If you haven't seen this yet, get yourself some new trousers.

DC EXCURSION

So I just spoke with Adam Atherton, who informed me of how crappy it is to be buried in snow. That's when we decided that the NH crew needs to make a trip down to DC pronto. With temps in the 50's and 60's....and not a flake of snow to be found...the short 8 hour drive would be well worth the weekend of winter shredding. A free place to sleep, new parks, new spots, and a ton more to do. Who's down!?!? Get in on this!

BACK TO THE BONEYARD 3 AT WATERVILLE

We hate that we can't be promoting skate events. But since all of New England is burried in 16,000 feet of snow, we have no choice but to give you the lowdown on upcoming snow contests. Here's another one, brought to you by one of the best and most respected shops in new England. Much love to EB.

Get the details:

GG’s 7th Annual Downtown Throwdown- March 5th

The dudes at Granite Gorge are making it happen yet again. For the 7th year running, they're putting together one of the most anticipated and loved snowboard events in southern New Hampshire.

This is no “set up a box and have a little jib session” BS. This thing shuts the lot down and brings in a crowd from all over NH and MA. Each year the event has grown exponentially. And this year is no different. Since making Transworld last season, GG has been on a tear- killin’ everything from park admission to print and media exposure. This year, they are bringing in local and national sponsors for the Downtown Throwdown. Here are just a few that I can think of: Monster Energy, AT&T, Bean Snowboards, Steez Magazine, DC Shoe Co., Oakley, Lab n’ Lager, Burn Helmets, Never Summer, Beaver Street Market, and Ted’s Shoe and Sport. And of course, the Rollin’ Box Bus will be on site. Check out the Renegade vinyl on it!

You want to be a part of this. Get to Gilbo Avenue in Keene, NH around 11:30am to register (the contest will be taking place in the public lot located next to the skate park and behind Ted’s Shoe and Sport). The comp starts at 1:00pm. It will be broken down into two divisions- 16+. And 15 and under. The top prize for the 16+ snowboard winner is pure magic- a customized, limited edition Bean Snowboard. The top skier will take home some new skis. AT&T will be giving out some free phones. And look for a little cash to be tossed around.

Get there. Throw down. Enough said.
